This Is Not Baseball Weather
Nope. I wouldn't say that about 45 degrees was baseball weather but we had fun! Last night was Jacob's first game on his 6th grade school team. A new milestone for us. No time limit games-yuck. That game lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes and we only made it to the 5th inning! Thank goodness it started at 4:30! Anyway, Jacob got to pinch run, scored, and played 2nd for one inning. He got the last out for a 15 - 2 win for the Wolverines! We're proud of you Jacob!
The only bad part is I can't get any good pictures. The dugout is totally covered and I can't see much through a fence! What's a Mom to do?
We ended the night with pizza (what else?) at our favorite place, Fox's Pizza and a banana split party! (That's whip cream in his mouth!)

Thankful Thursday
Lately, we have been so consumed with being busy that it has been hard to stop and be thankful! I want to share today what the Lord has been telling me lately. About a month ago a friend of mine lost her 13 year old daughter to cancer. As I read her care page updates I am forced to get on my knees and beg for forgiveness for not being thankful for every moment the Lord gives me. Oh, how I have wasted so much time. So today, I am so very thankful for time (or lack of it). I am turning what feels like oppression into opportunity:
Busy schedule-thank you Jesus for my 3 children that make my schedule so busy.
finances-opportunity for God to show Himself to us in a mighty way.
homework and school issues-opportunity for God to show Himself to my children. He can help them through anything.
sibling rivalry-opportunity to teach the kids how to treat each other with kindness and with the love of Jesus (my friend wrote the other day how she wished she could hear her girls fight again. Her house is too quiet!)
I continue to struggle with this on a daily basis. It is my prayer every day that I cherish each moment I have.

Menu Plan Monday
Well, I spoke too soon about getting back on a schedule. Right after that Jared had his appendix out, Jacob is on 2 baseball teams, and Jared wants to do karate. So, menu planning is now more important than ever. We'll see if I can keep up with it!
Monday-salmon, fried rice, sweet potatoes, salad
Tuesday-sandwiches, Daddy's working
Wednesday-sloppy joe's, chips
Thursday-eating out after Jacob's first game to celebrate getting on the team.
Friday-not sure
Saturday-chicken parmesan, pasta, green beans
Sunday-going to try something new in the crock pot.

Friday Fun Night
Last Friday David and I had a wonderful date night for Valentine's Day. We went to eat at Chili's then he took me to see Fool's Gold (with Matthew McConaughey-hee hee). It was a pretty cute movie. Chick flick, for sure.
Last night we had a family night and went to Steak N' Shake-my favorite burger joint. Jenna and I went to see Hannah Montanna and the boys went to see Junper? Don't even know what that is but Jenna was so excited to see Hannah Montanna. Yes, she LOVES that show. The "concert movie" was OK but it sure was fun watching her.
She was the only one dancing in the movie isle-so cute.

A Mamogram Can Be Fun
Yes, you are at the right blog. I just had to put this first picture on here. It's what you do to prepare for a momogram! It can't be any more perfect! I'm sorry if it offends someone but I think it is soooo funny.
Last Wednesday, my friend Chelle (not my bloggy friend Chelle)and I went to have a momogram. Some time ago we decided to make our appointments at the same time then go have lunch. Why not make the worst appointment ever into something fun? Well, the procedure was not fun. I went back first and thought I was going to pass out. The digital was not any better for me.
But, we had a great lunch at Long Horn (my favorite) and did a little shopping for the kids for Valentine's Day. I think we will make this an annual thing.

Who, me?
Well, apparently I have won a bracelet from Sting My Heart-host of Thankful Thursday. I never win anything so this was a big surprise. I didn't even know she was having a give-a-way! Can't wait to get my new bracelet.

Congratulations Jacob!
We were so exicted to find out last night that Jacob made the middle school baseball team. They only had three spots open so we were not sure what was going to happen. So, here we go. Jacob is also playing in a rec league. Two teams. Two practices. Two sets of games. One Dad who works nights. One Mommy. Now I have to put on my "sports Mommy" hat. At least Jared and Jenna aren't in anything right now.
It will be fun! We're proud of you Jacob, as usual.

I Won An Award!
Chelle over at The World Of Chelle has nominated me for my first award. I must say I was shocked. I don't even know Chelle but by reading her blog I feel like I know her well. I picked her blog out of the comments on Beth Moore's blog one day because my nickname is Chel and I was just curious. I'm so glad I did. I admire her for her faith, perseverance through her illness, and her thought provoking posts.
Thank you, Chelle! By the way, I have NEVER had anyone describe me as a "supreme cook". My friends that have known me for a while are all laughing now!! You are so precious and I sure do hope to meet you one day.

Thankful Thursday
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
~ John 3:16 (ESV)
Since it is Valentines Day I am most thankful, of course, for the love of my Savior. Each day I grow closer and closer to Him. It could be through trials, prayer, bible reading, but mostly it's just through common everyday activities.
Last night was one of those. This year we decided to celebrate Valentine's Day a little more than we have in past years. Not sure why, we just wanted to. We got each child a gift and sat down last night to hand them out (Daddy is working today).
David started out by going around to each child and telling them why we loved them so much. I could see the joy in their eyes and even if they acted like they didn't want us to know, they appreciated it very much. He ended with me and, of course, made me cry. Then David and I exchanged gifts. What was so funny is that we both got each other the musical cards. He got me one with the song, "Sugar Pie Honey Bunch" and I got him the one with "Every little thing that you do, I'm so in love with you" by Lone Star. I'm not sure of the exact title. The part I love in that song is where it says, "It just keeps getting better and better." That is so true of our marriage. We have tough times, arguments, disagree on kid stuff, but after 16years I love him more today than ever! Hopefully, the details will work out for a date night tomorrow night!
I am so very thankful for the love of my family! I'm trying to appreciate it more every minute of the day.

Jacob's Mission Statement
The other day Jacob (6th grade) had an assignment to write a mission statement in school for a grade. Here is what he wrote (exactly):
My plan is to do good in school and be a Godly person, and listen to God and hopefully get a scholorship to the University of Georgia. And not hang around bad people who tell you to do the wrong thing and tell those bad people about Jesus. And then for my job a Godly football coach or sports announcer and tell people at work about God. And raise a good family.
I think that sounds like a plan to me! Good job Jacob.

Thankful Thursday-taking care of Jared
I am so full of thankfulness today that I can't do another thing until I write this! Jared has been complaining of a stomach ache for about a week. He had a low grade fever and I just assumed it was a stomach bug. It would come and go and he would feel better, go back to school, then it would start again. Tuesday morning he said his stomach was hurting and pointed to his right side. Oh no, maybe his appendix. We went to the doctor, he sent us to Scottish Rite. We arrived at 1:00p.m. and waited until 4:30 for a room. The whole time I was waiting I was thanking God that we were only there for a stomach ache. My heat was aching for the children coming in there with much more serious conditions. After a series of tests, at 1:00AM the doctor said it was an appedicitis but they wanted to wait until 7:30 a.m. to do the surgery. So, after 17 hours in the emergency room they moved us to an overflow room for surgery. The hospital was so full they didn't have a "real" room for us. Jared had his surgery and we were able to go home last night at 6:00p.m.! It was just a God thing that I listened to my child. I have been so busy lately and it is a miracle that his appendix did not rupture. He was not showing any obvious symptoms. Thank you Jesus for:
*Making me stop and listen.
*Providing an awesome hospital only 1 hour away.
*Providing awesome doctors.
*NaNa and PaPa stepping in and helping with Jacob and Jenna (again).
*A wonderful husband who left work to be with me and Jared.
*Caring friends and family calling to ask how Jared was doing.
*Janet-a meal tonight, for real? Thank you so much!
*Penny-taking care of things at church (again) and being such a dear friend. What a blessing she is to me.
*Jacob-for Jared's "stash" (will post picture later) and showing love to your brother even though you were jelous that he got his appendix out instead of you. Ha
*A faithful God.
God spoke to me the past 2 days in a mighty way. I have been too busy. My mind is too cluttered. He wants me to listen to Him like I listened to Jared.

Super Weekend
GodTube.com - A moms overture
One of my New Year's resolutions was to laugh more. When my friend Jodi called me and asked if I wanted to go to an Anita Renfro taping (Saturday) of her new DVD, "Thyroid" I knew this would be a great chance to do just that-laugh, laugh, laugh. I saw Anita at the Women of Faith Confernece back in August and she was so funny. This new DVD is going to be sooooo funny. I have never been to a taping before and even that was funny. She had to take severl re-takes and for some reason a train kept going by-seriously, at 7:00p.m? She ended the evening with a great tribute song to all the women that have influenced her through the years. Anita is most famous for her mom song (above) . You MUST take a moment to watch this. She has gotten millions of hits off of YouTube. She is also going to be on Good Morning America soon.
Don't forget to laugh, ladies. I'm trying to do it more. I never thought it would take WORK to laugh more but it does. For me, it works!
Then Sunday night we went over to Jodi and Jeremy's house for a super bowl party. There were a lot of adults and A TON of children. Can't say I watched any football but we had a great time tlaking and the food was wonderful! No finger foods at this party-steak, chicken, vegetables. Really, it was great! Thank you to the Yorks for hosting it.
