My Favorite Spot

"Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go for to You I lift up my soul." Psalm 143:8

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!"
Isaiah 43: 18 -19

This summer I have really been working on a more consistent quiet time and not just squeezing it in when I can. During the school year it's usually in my van after I have taken kids to school. I have discovered a favorite spot to meet with the Lord-my front porch. I'm sure you have that favorite spot-one where you can just try and get in His presence and hear his voice. If you have little children (or even if you don't), it gets difficult, doesn't it?

It's hard getting up.
If you get up, the kids get up early-what's up with that?
If you get up, get started, and are really get going good-the kids get up!
If you wait until night, you fall asleep!

To me, it's just doing the best you can. There could be a lot worse things than your kids waking up and seeing you in the Word, right? I remember several years ago Jacob told my mother-in-law: "When I get up, Mom is always reading her bible." Well, always is stretching it but it sure meant a lot to me that he noticed that. I decided this summer that I would not have a list of "wants" for the Lord. My prayer every day has been for Him to be the center of my life and to invade every thought and EMOTION (I'm a very emotional person) that enters my mind. The rest will fall into place.

So, consider yourself tagged if you are reading this. What is your favorite spot? When is your best time for a quiet time? What has the Lord been teaching you? Post on your blog and leave a comment so we can read yours!

I tend to just plop on my sofa for my devotions.
I do better at night, generally, physically speaking, but ummmm... let's see here... it's already 12:30 am and here I sit at the computer!!! So, REALLY need to keep working on the whole literal sense of devotion and actually staying devoted to it. I've still been reading my new book by A. Murray and have enjoyed it... just not really honing in like I should be. And I can definitely tell.
I don't know what happened to the whole getting up early thing I'd started doing??? Sure didn't last long with me, I tell you that! :O
Closest I came was this morning, when I was listening to Woodrow Krull talking on the radio and I was still so much asleep that I was DREAMING that I was listening to W. Krull on the radio and knew I should be getting ready for work... Sheesh! Better pray for me, Girl. :) Got a long way to go!

This is a great idea Sis! I will have to think about where my "favorite place" is to do devotionals :) and then let you know.

I don't really have a specific place where I do my quiet time. I like to sit outside once the weather starts getting cooler, but most days I am at the kitchen table with "Blues Clues" on in the background. Some days I still struggle with taking care of "Mommy Duties" first, but I try to remind myself that doing my Quiet Time first, will make me a better Mommy :) Thank you for sharing your spot with us!

My favorite spot is on the back deck, first thing in the morning, with a cup of coffee. But, since the kids rarely cooperate with that, I usually have to settle for sitting at my desk in my room in front of the window during naptime. By that time of the day, it's just too hot to enjoy the back deck.

Found you via Fruit Inspection!

I've been surprisingly good about getting up early and exercising almost everyday this summer. Unfortunately, the quiet time doesn't always make it. But that's the next thing I hope to be more consistent at. When I do get it in, I like to go out back on the patio and read my Message Remix Bible. It reads like a novel and is helping me read through the Bible.
