Baby Girl

Jenna and I love a song by Martina McBride called "Daughter's Eyes". This morning we were listening to it and she said:
"I like it when you take me to school, Mommy"

"I like taking you to school too, baby girl. I just love being with you."

"I'm not a baby."

"No, you're not, but you will always be my baby girl."

"When I go to college will I still be your baby girl?"

(As the tears come to my face) "Yes, you will even be my baby girl when you go to college."

Then, we opened the door to go to school and she said; "You sure look beautiful today."

What a great moment to have this morning. Ladies, keep blogging! I did not have this 12 years ago and I did not write much down like I thought I would before children!

Also, last night she was cleaning the table and I said, "Jenna, can I just say what a big helper you are around the house? You have really been working hard lately."

She said, "Go ahead, speak it up!". Don't we all love praise?

Fall Fun

Saturday was such a beautiful fall day! Jacob's teacher had a Halloween party and we had such a good time on their beautiful farm! We watched the Georgia game (of course), roasted marshmellows, ate, went on a hay ride, ate, enjoyed getting to know new people from Jacob's school, ate, the boys went for a ride on the 4 wheeler, Jenna really enjoyed the "bouncy" things, and did I mention that we ate? We are so blessed to be at such a great school and hope to have many years to come there!

Friday Fun Day/Our Little Cheerleader

Jenna has really gotten into cheerleading. I got her a uniform to match Jacob's school because, as you know, we have been going to quite a few football games lately. Last night we had so much fun at the fall festival, watching her cheer, and have fun with the "big" cheerleaders. Earlier in the day Jenna and I had fun running errands, eating lunch, and going to the mall to Claire's-her favorite place these days.

Thankful Thursday-Home and Healing

I'm a little late posting this but I have been thinking about this all week. My heart just aches for all the families in California. There are people wihout homes, firemen exhausted from fighting fires, children without parents now, animals without owners and the list goes on and on. Everytime I pull into my home I thank God for my home and that my family is safe. Home is:

-my husband's and kids sanctuary
-a place for memories
-a place where God is and where we learn about Him
-a place where my children feel safe
-a place for family and friends to gather and have fun

Healing-I have been down in my back almost all week and I want to thank God for healing and for feeling better! Boy, how we take our health for granted!

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Last Game

Thursday was Jared's last game. They won again and ended up having the best record which makes them the "champs". We had such a wonderful coach. Coach Ronnie was perfect for Jared. Not only did they learn skill but they learned character traits too which is more important to me! He ended the season with another run and being the best "walker" the team had. Good eye, Jared!

Time With Jacob

Last week was a very busy week with "kid" stuff. It started out on Monday with a Mother/Son fun night with Jacob. We had such a good time with his friends from school and we even played a baseball game. Moms agaist the sons! Of course, the Moms won. The look on Jacob's face was priceless when I hit one in right field.

Wednesday I went on a field trip with Jacob to the Scientific Circus. It was a really good show and I actually enjoyed it. I know this time with him so short. Next year he probably won't want me to go! Boo

Way to Go Boys!

Just got our report cards last week and the boys did so good! Jared got all A's and B's which put him on the Merit list. He also go a reading award for having the most reading points in his class.

Jacob got a 90 average which put him on the Principal's list!

We are always proud of them but just wanted to acknowledge all their hard work. This has been the best year we have ever had so far. KEEP IT UP GUYS!

Thankful Thursday

F A L L!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know we are glad that cooler weather is here. This time I think it's here to stay. Some things I love about fall:

1. Comfort foods, especially soups.
2. Crisp air in the morning.
3. Going outside without sweat pouring off of you.
4. Walks in the evening.
5. Fall festivals.
6. Beautiful leaves.

Have a great fall day!

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
~ Philippians 4:4-7 (ESV)

Wanting More of Him

I read this today on Beth Moore's blog (The LPM Blog) and it really hit home. I want to bring Christ into every area of my life!

I caught myself doing something this morning that made me think of my own walk with Christ then yours, my darling fellow-sojourners, because that's the way God has wired me. It was still dark outside and I'd just finished my quiet time on the back porch. Our sanitation guys come early so I knew I'd better get the trash out before I missed them. As I was dragging a large trash can down the driveway and out to the curb with one hand, I held the other hand up in the air while I prayed some Scriptures out loud over my beloved son-in-law. It might have been any one of my closest loved ones but I knew he had a Greek test today and I wanted to spend some extra time on him. Suddenly the Holy Spirit made me aware of the sweet irony of what was happening. There I was, dragging a trash can filled with empty dog-food cans, coffee grounds, crumpled kleenex from blown noses, cardboard toilet tissue tubes, dryer lint, a weekend of Houston Chronicles, all manner of to-go food containers and goodness knows what other unmentionables out to the curb while having a holy moment with the King of all Creation.

And I thought to myself, "Isn't that the way it is?" God's Word and His ways were meant for real living. If we keep saving sacred practices for sacred life-moments, we will never truly see our theology collide with our reality. We may feel a tad better at church and more spiritually in-tune at Bible study but we'll never get the fact that Christ meant to infuse Himself into our relentless carpool lines, traffic jams, elevator rides, grocery store check-outs, expense reports, tank fill-ups, and family fights. If we reserve divine moments for divine situations, we are in for long waits and short visits. I don't know about you but I need Him more than that.

Football Fever

Ok, I consider myself a "TomMom". (Like my new word.) I was a tomboy growing up playing sports and everything. I even enjoy getting outside and playing ball with the kids. But, I must say. that it has been football fever around here. I enjoy a Georgia game very much, and would even like to go to a game one day, but everywhere I turn is football! So when David offered to give me some "me" time this morning-I took it! I went to several of my favorite places then brought chicken wings home at about half time of the Georgia game. That was not a good game. We still love ya DAWGS! If that was not enough, the boys got out after the game and played some neighborhood football. We always said we wanted our house to be the place that the kids gathered. Even though it was a DAWG Day Afternoon for our team, we had a great time at the Yarbrough house. Will my house ever stop smelling like sweat? I'm sure when it does I will miss it.

Another Great Game

We only have a couple of games left and it has been a great season for Jared. Here he is running home at Monday nights game. It is really hard getting a picture through that darn fence! He walked-again. He cracks me up watching that ball go right by him. Last week he got a hit and the game ball! (That is really important, you know.)

Beautiful Day

Like most of you, we are really glad that fall is here. Monday was a beautiful day and Daddy was off so we headed to Tribble Mill Park again. It has a beautiful lake, walking trails, and playground. We even had a pic nic. We are trying to make the most of every day with Jenna since she will be in Kindergarten this time next year-boo. Where has the time gone? It is so fun watching her run around the playground having such a good time. Daddy even took time to play!
